The Others

To save a missing girl....

Dan Delgado is a private investigator. When it comes to finding cheating spouses, corporate thieves, or runaway teenagers, he's unenthusiastic, and unmatched. As a former San Francisco detective, he misses more meaningful work, but he hasn't had the heart for it since his wife's death five years prior. That is, until a phone call from a distraught mother, an illegal immigrant who can't go to the police, puts him on the hunt for a missing little girl.Â

By the time he reaches the mother's small home, she's missing, too. The circumstances are strange, but when a team of heavily armed mercenaries arrive, Delgado is convinced there is more going on than a simple kidnapping.Â

Joined by his wise-cracking elderly assistant, a gun-toting pastor, and a UFO enthusiast Uber driver, Delgado follows the clues west, to Colorado City, a town cleaved in two by the 37th parallel, also known as the UFO Highway. In a town infamous for fundamentalist Mormon cult activity, they uncover evidence of a massive child-trafficking ring whose ringleaders might not be human.

Delgado and crew are plunged into a dangerous world of corporate competition, UFO lore, and government cover-ups. While they hunt for answers, they're pursued across the Southwest by high-tech mercs, brainwashed cults, and beings whose true identity has been concealed since 1947.

...he must risk the world.

UFOs and alien abductions remain some of the most hotly debated and mysterious subjects of the 21st century. In the decades since 1960, with reports of strange encounters on the rise, 13 million people have gone missing worldwide and never been found. The Others takes a fast-paced, unique, and moving look at the phenomenon that has fueled Jeremy Robinson's imagination since several sightings, strange happenings, and visits with renowned UFO investigator, and family friend, Raymond Fowler.

I was going to go with a pun, like “Robinson’s New Book is Out of this World,” but instead took the more direct, honest approach. For over a decade, Jeremy Robinson has been writing outstanding sci-fi, action/adventure, and horror novels. This is another terrific book, and the premise of this story further shows the breadth of his creativity. One of the key elements of Robinson’s stand-alone novels is relatable characters. In this story, Dan Delgado is a private investigator who finds missing children . He is a good man with a strong sense of morality and dedication to his mission to save kids. He is something of an every-man, though by no means a perfect person. While working on a new case Delgado is suddenly caught up in a situation that goes well beyond what he normally encounters and the lives of himself and his elderly partner Wini. The easy thing would be to quit the case and take another, safer one. But that would leave a child in danger, and that is not acceptable to Delgado.During the case, Dan and Wini befriend a pastor with keen shooting skills, and an adventurous Uber driver. Together they discover an alien mystery, come across a polygamist compound, and come face-to-face with some Greys. There is plenty of action, character depth, mystery, humor, and a moral, as are common in the majority of Robinson’s books. This is another hit novel from an extremely talented author.

Every time I read a Jeremy Robinson book, I think that the next book will never be as good. And every time I am wrong. The Others is my new favourite. If you’re thinking, this is just another aliens are among us/abductions/anal probes suck type story, you are so wrong. There’s all the action, twists and turns, and gripping suspense that you can always expect with one of Jeremy’s book. There is more heart in this book than in previous (in my humble opinion), and don’t be surprised if you are moved to tears.Dan Delgado is a great character and his sense of humour is reminiscent of Jon Hudson, yet also his own brand of comic wit.

The Others is a crazy fast paced ride in an action/sci-fi vehicle. Robinson creates another movie worthy setting and cast of characters, this time with quite a bit of snappy sarcasm. Not that that’s unusual for one of his books, but this one is chock full of it. Why he hasn’t had films made of his novels yet, I will never understand. Check The Others out!

Another great read from my favorite author. There isn't a whole lot I can say about this book without spoiling things because this book has a very different take on things than any UFO story I have ever seen before. The characters are original and imaginative and the story was exciting, with many twist and turns. While I wouldn't necessarily say that this is my favorite Robinson book, I can definitely say that it is quite likely his most original story to date.

I wasn't prepared to like it (don't know why). The beginning just didn't grab me, but I persevered and glad I did. The initial comical banter in the Uber had me chuckling and hooked me from there. The plot was complicated and had me rereading passages several times. The character development was positively riveting and empathetic. For some reason, I always try to find a flaw in an author's story lines but just when I think I find one, Jeremy Robinson invariably manages to sneak in an explanation. Still, I have trouble imagining how the kid, Jacob, (given his restrained circumstances) was able to access repeats of STTNG. If this is his only inconsistency, in the dozens of Jeremy's books I have read, then I can live with that. I was totally awestruck by the author's ingenuity and brilliance in the development and complexity of the story's premise. Then, at the end, in "A Note from the Author" he credited the source of the plot. Still, this is a novel that must be read.

First, I enjoy all the author's novels, but find I get the most enjoyment from his first person narratives. The protagonist in this story, Dan, was likeable, courageous, human, and very funny--I so love me some funny. In addition to a creative story, there were moments of brilliance in Robinson's characterizations. When Dan revisits a memory where he searched for a box for his late wife, I was touched--the scene so realistically poignant. Finally, Robinson is a master at creating bad-assed monsters, this novel no exception. The author's nom de plume should be the Monster Meister (I hate to imagine the poor man's dreams). Great read, great fun--please keep cranking them out.

I love me a good tale about aliens and this one hit the spot! What if everything you have ever believed about aliens was a lie? The premise of this story was interesting...throw in child trafficking and a cast of motley characters and you have one wild ride!Mr. Robinson never lets me down and I definitely recommend this one!

Even with the positive reviews, I passed up this book multiple times. Mostly because I read every UFO abduction book available as a teen, and the last thing I wanted to read was another UFO book. Well, if it was anyone other than Robinson, I wouldn’t have took the plunge. But I did. And I couldn’t be happier. For those of us that read Peter Cline’s "14" or "Paradox Bound", you’ll love this book. It has a similar feel of adventure and mystery, but with Robinson’s distinctive style.
